Hey Shelly,
It absolutely is a bunch of bologna! And, it's not their fault. We don't have to look for blame. That's the same game they played on us. You're too lazy, you're not 'allowing', blah, blah, blah. And, it has worked for a number of them. It certainly didn't work for me or the majority of us sitting in the audience. Anyway, when I was growing up we called a bologna sandwich - and you have to say this correctly, so I'm writing it phonetically - a jumbo sang weech. And that's all it is, a great big jumbo sangweech.

Hey Donnalynn,

I love this article for sooooo many reasons. But two of your points really JUMP out at me...

1... The notion that we must all learn to Overcome objections. This aspect of traditional or old school network marketing drives me nuts. If you have to "convince" someone to join your business how good a business builder do you think they will be? If they aren't willing to do the work and learn the skills necessary to succeed do you really want them? Body count alone isn't enough folks.

Which brings me to the second point that jumped out at me...

2... "Reading goal cards and reciting over and over the reason why, your “why”, you are doing this business does not give you the necessary marketing skills required by owning a business. The lack of business experience or marketing skills is overlooked and replaced with a shame-based admonishment of you’re not wanting this bad enough."

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! Yes this approach makes me want to SCREAM! You simply Can NOT go out and recruit folks with NO business skills and expect them to succeed without proper training. They must learn a whole new skill set to run a successful business. Yet all too often this is exactly what happens.

To be fair, it's not really your uplines fault if they are feeding you this "focus on your why" bologna. It's what they were taught too. But it's time folks got a clue.

And thanks to people like you Donnalynn and other Rat Race Rebels and Renegade Professionals people are starting to GET it. They are starting to understand that to be successful you must learn a new skill set. Having a huge WHY isn't enough. Everyone has a Huge WHY. Training and providing real VALUE to your prospects is the way to lasting success.

Thank you for sharing these points so eloquently and for being such a wonderful guide to the network marketing industry.

Hi Michelle, I glad you stopped by. I relate to all those nasties pre Attraction Marketing. It was on a webinar when an upline said that 'if you weren't succeeding, you were just plain lazy' that I got really fed up. I know I had been working really hard and so were a number of people I knew. There's so much to say about this, I could go on and on. Thanks for the comment. BTW, Shelly B's and other Attraction Marketers are going to be addressing the topic tonight. http://AtHomeWith.TheRatRaceRebel.com

Donnalynn, this is a great article! It's so true about how doing network marketing in the "old school" ways is so hard. It becomes a dreaded thing. Not only is it hard to face rejection time and time again, it's also hard to face your upline who is constantly in your face about how, "If you have a big enough "why", you'll do anything to be successful".

Then, thanks God, your article leads right into a wonderful solution. Attraction Marketing. This way takes hard work and dedication, BUT, I have not found once that I was rejected. Someone comes to my site, reads a bit and decides if it is something they are interested in or not. If they are, THEY CONTACT ME. If they are not interested, they are off to their next research place. No rejection for me. No chasing for me.

Thanks for putting this together. It's a wonderful thing, Attraction Marketing.
